our pre-ns days.

if u guys have not watch 'yes man', then go catch it at your nearest cinema. coz it's funny and very cute and romantic towards the end. im actually glad he still has not lost his funny ways. honestly, i grew up with him during his days playing as the Mask and Ace Ventura. and now i already saw his aged wrinkles. chey grew up or what.. hahaha!

just watch it k. if u dont have the time or do not want to spend the money, wait 6 months later and visit www.ovguide.com. there's a list of movies that u can watch there. just so u all know that some of the websites have slow loading time and one particular website called megavideo is implementing a policy stating that after u watch a video for an hour, u'll be barred from watching videos again until 2 hours later. but this is only from megavideo. the others are quite alright.

im sure u always feel like going to the toilet after u finished the movie coz u have been holding it for the past 1 hour or less. and u didnt want to go to the toilet during the movie coz u dont want to miss the important scenes. and even if u want to go to the toilet, u need to stand up and squeeze through narrow seats. u pray that u wont be stepping on someone's feet.

yes i bet u do ppl!

anw, after the movie, i was in need to take a piss so i moved fast. so when i saw the toilet, i started to jog. and when i entered, i saw a GIRL inside!

and i heard my 2 friends at the back shouting at me - "AN-NUR, WHERE ARE U GOING?!!"

the funny thing was when i saw the girl, my mind was thinking why was this girl in the male toilet. after i heard the shout, i realised i was the one being stupid. luckily for me, the girl was walking towards a cubicle so she didnt see me entered and my 'frozen moment for 5 seconds in the toilet'.

but even if she did see me, she would have probably be frozen too and wonder whether if she IS the one in the wrong toilet. now that would be funny. hahah!

i went to punggol beach last sat. i didnt know that the place is a world war 2 site. i bet that's the place where all the massive executions take place. but yea as u can see, there are some orbs in the pictures. but i didnt see anything scary or flying there. not that i want to see one.

i think that is malaysia on the other side. i really dont know.

i walk with the orbs.

time to get ready for the new year. enjoy the holiday ppl :)

it seems, i've heard, that SSDC is moving to woodlands next year august. and since i already blew up my chance to take bike license at bbdc, it would be good to start anew at the new ssdc. so yes, i'm definitely looking forward to get my car license there.

of course this time i have to be disciplined coz the last time i tried to get my bike license, i wasnt serious and wasted alot of money. i will put this in my new year's resolution.

be disciplined and get your license, an-nur.

fadhil thinks my trousers is very nice :)

anyway, last saturday, i followed a couple of my friends to the ssdc coz fadhil wanted to book his tp. i think he already failed twice so this would be his third time taking it. the thing is, he can book online what!! but he doesnt have a credit card so we had to go there.

this door leads u to your imagination.

and then, it was time to go orchard road to accompany fadhil's sister to get her shoes and a nail buffer. actually, the nail buffer was unplanned.

orchard road looks so bright and cheery with it's christmas lightings and decorations. even though the streets were choked with thousands of shoppers, my friends and i could still walk around with not much difficulties.

in fact, i was bedazzled.

i didn't take much pictures of the scenes during that night because i was too busy getting around to get myself a gift. and i had to walk back and forth from OG centrepoint to heeren and to ck tangs just to get it. but when i got it, it was all worth the time and sweat.

i should get a pair of shades too.

that looks like the Predator.

this was how my vision was when i saw the overwhelming waves of crowd walked past us.

actually, we saw some young punkers during the day. i wanted to take a picture with them but i didnt have the courage to do so. but to see them wearing like this, it just feels like that they have something to fight for even though their trend is slowly dying in singapore.

some wanted to leave coz it was nearing to midnight. but the others wanted to chill out somewhere so i suggested mount faber. hahah! sometimes, i think my suggestions to go places are lame. but it turned out okay afterall coz it was all cozy and windy up there. and u get to see the keppel harbour from there too. i remember going to mount faber once with cass but we never saw the harbour so it depends where u are located at coz different areas means different views. but i tell u, if u go in the day, u'll get some mosquito bites.

that means if u go during night time, u wont be getting any bites from the bloodsuckers. which reminds of the movie twilight! have u guys watched it yet?

can u walk on air?

no u can't.

the next day, i had to attend my cousin's wedding in kota tinggi, jb. i have not seen her for many years and i've always remember her as a skinny girl who i always play with during my younger years. and now she is getting married.

green is my favourite colour!

the function was held in a town hall.

after i finished eating, i suddenly realised that other tables were fitted with a steamboat bowl and trays of dishes were surrounding it. u see, i had to get my food from the buffet trays but these other guests had their food straight from the table that they are sitting at. so i asked my mum why they have these special settings. n she said these ppl could be from the 'atas' society or from the the higher class society. and malaysian weddings still practice this kind of conformity. so if u're a commoner, u eat from the trays. if u're atas, your food is already served at ur allocated table. i dont really care less but u dont see this kind of things happening in singapore. maybe they do, but i've never experienced it before.

still, i don't really care.

after the wedding procession, my dad decided to visit this old lady who used to be his neighbour. actually, my dad thought this person had already passed away coz my uncle relayed the message from my grandma who told him that she has passed away. but when she showed up at the wedding, my uncle and dad obviously was shocked. so my grandma was wrong and all my uncles and aunties was trying to figure out who told my grandma the news.

when i was in k1 and k2, i loved going here. back then, it wasnt really rundown like now. but my childhood time there was very memorable. but im actually baffled with myself coz everytime i reached this house, i will cry wanting to go home. but the next day, i will be happily playing, dugging out some earth and covered myself with it.

i dont know why my face is like that.

my chinese-looking cousin, anis.

grew up to be more chinese looking than ever.

i found some really vintage photos. and i would really love to get myself the camera that they used to capture this.

i would prefer to wear the white one. my grandad is 2nd from the right.

my uncle at the most right in the band.

and u think it was only our generation that takes jumping shots!

remember this?

see! i told u i am a shy boy. hahah!

going back to the nostalgic days was good. but im looking forward to the future.

and climb myself up to the height of success :)

as u all might have guessed, it wasn't me who put up the sales advertisement on my last post. the bad news is, all the SVH books are all sold out. so to all u female (or male) teenagers out there, sorry!

lately, i have been running out of ideas on what to write for my blog. i wish there wasn't any national service so i can go traveling and blog all about all the trips that i would visit.

maybe i should change into a girl and the national service problem would be gone instantly! of course, im not complaining about ns. all able-bodied men have to go through it right so yah i am fortunate to be an able-bodied man. at least that is how i see it. oh yah.. i gained 5 kg so now i am 54 kg. see! ns makes me fatter! hahaha!

i feel different when i got bald. feel like a new man. chey. hahah!

this is me now. (picture from reuters) ( so that i won't get sued by them)

hahaha! so do i look meatier abit?

i've seen many of my bigger friends who became fit during the BMT period and even lost great weight. but after that, they became what they used to be before they got enlisted. some did maintained their weight. some looked like as if they went for an extreme makeover. but im sure ppl know this already. im like all nsmen. they talked about NS all the time and make their girlfriends bored. hahahaha! long time ago, i didnt imagine talking about it will make the female species bored. i thought it would fascinate them like how sex fascinate the minds of teenagers.

nowatimes, i spend a lot of my free time watching anime and playing games. someone asked me 'you how old already??'. 22 is still young right?? at least im not addicted to gaming and play 38 hours of continuous gaming like that guy in china or hongkong who died after playing online gaming for so long.

u wonder: was he playing an online sex game? and got his adrenaline levels too sky high till his heart could not take it? maybe. still, playing game with my little brother izzan does kill the boredom. i get to beat him in soccer games. he used to cry whenever i beat him. but now, he just takes it coolly. like me. hehe!

when u visit marina barrage, try get this kind of picture at night. u'll feel like u're on top of the world. well, u won't be on top of the world but u'll be on top of something.

you'll see.

i have made it a point that i should update my blog at least once a month. and other bloggers should do that too. unless of course they are very very very busy.

i've not been in good health for the past few weeks. in fact, i have been coughing for 3 weeks already and i am still coughing. luckily (or unluckily) for me, my coughs produced yellowish sputum so i tell myself everyday that surely i did not catch the horrible tuberculosis. i tried the cough syrup that i bought at the pharmacy but it didnt work. so if u guys have cough, don't depend on them. u'll probably just waste ur 5 dollars which u can use to buy McDonald's extra value meal. okay may it wont be enough with just 5 dollars, but add another 2 dollars and u'll get ur money's worth.

back to the story, i went to see the doctor yesterday coz my cough got worse and i develop flu. I had to wait so longggggggg to see the doctor. polyclinic. so it's no surprise. on top of that, when i asked for 2 days mc, the doc said no.

reason: "u do not have fever so i can't justify the reasons for giving u 2 days mc."

i am like "what the hell are u talking about?"

i am genuinely sick (and still sick while writing this blog) and he told me that i must have fever to get 2 days mc!

i have to repeat this point again: i must have fever to get 2 days mc. what crap. what if i have fever and i die?

okok.. maybe it's the practice or protocol there. but can anyone tell me why he said that? coz i do not see the reason behind it. and next time i will go see private doctor. do u think can ask for 3 days mc?? how? can or not?

so today i came to work feeling groggy and coughy. wasn't really in the mood to work coz i kept coughing while working. and i kept sniffling. i bet i irritated some ppl there with my constant snifflings. in the end, i took half day coz my senior told me to go home and rest.

this pic was taken during the 2nd weekend of my sick period. but i looked healthy right? hehhe!

okay! until next time :)

the fasting days are finally over and it's time to indulge in good food once again!

well, at least i did have some good food even though i didn't go to a lot of houses. i think i only went to only 3-4 houses and only one of them functions like an open house. for the rest, i just had kuihs and pastries. still, it's really good to celebrate the Raya during my NS.

anyway, i have just completed my medic course! remember when i said that i could become a station medic working 12 hours shift starting from 2 days work, 2 days off and followed by 2 nights work. i didnt become one! i became instructor instead!
a medical instructor :)

i dont mind becoming one.. in fact, i believe it's going to be a challenge to teach future fire fighters, officers and medics. and i shall relish that challenge! and being an instructor also means i will stay at the civil defence academy for the rest of my remaining ns life.

so how do i look? and that is not my tummy bulging ahh!

my ns buddy Afham who stayed with me thru thick and thin for 14 weeks. he's going paya lebar firestation.

another buddy of mine, Azhar, who will also be an instructor too. out of 47 trainees, only 4 of us became instructors namely me, this guy, and 2 other chinese fellows.

to mark the end of the 7 weeks training, we had to present with some performance. i dont know whether i can post it in the but i know this video is not something that will mar the good name of scdf.

i think the event that i remember most is the passing out ceremony. it is the day where i got my medic badge, my course cert and my bcls cert! i didnt cry but i do feel sad knowing that perhaps i wont be able to see most of my mates again. but that's normal right? u see or dont see some ppl at all in ur life.

in the ceremony, there were 4 awards that were given out to 4 trainees. they were The most Improved Trainee, Best in Theory, Best in Practical and Best Overall Trainee. my 2 mates got the first 2 awards and when my name is called out for the 3rd award, i was elated. and when my name is called out again to receive the 4th award, i was OVERJOYED!

i practically ran up and was smiling with glee to the officer who is giving out the award. and when i reached there with open hands, the officer was shocked and asked " didnt i already gave u ur award?" obviously i was dumbfounded.

and he said " SORRY! wrong person!"

i feel extremely embarassed and all my friends were saying "eh an-nur! u already won best in practical and u want best trainee some more! dont be kiasu lah!" LOL!

the next time i blog will be about my instructor's life. and the next time u see me, u can also call me Instructor An-Nur :))) hahahah!

Sunday, September 07, 2008

my hair has definitely grow abit longer than before. and it has already been 2 weeks since the day i got into the Medical Orderly Course which will train me to become a medic. being a nurse myself, things i learned there are the usual stuffs and i am surprised that i can still remember most of the medical terminologies i saw in my lecture notes.

the instructors and the lecturer (who is a warrant officer) didnt really call me by my name during lesson. they will just shout out 'NURSE, what is the answer for this question?' or 'Staff Nurse, can u explain to the class what does this mean?'. recently, one of the instructors called me Missy already. hahaha! still i have to be humble even though i know more than the other students. sometimes, i just help them understand better :)

i hope they wont call me missy when they see me at orchard road or bugis street! i wont be paiseh lah but i got a name mah! my name is very nice one! hahaha! so anw medic training is fun plus tiring. i can't really say bad things abt it coz nowadays they will charge those CD personnel who disgrace the Force.

amidst of my busy schedule, i still got time to spend a bday bbq with my friends last last sunday.

and a break fast dinner at Popeye's Terminal 1 last saturday.

at least must pose abit la.. hahah!

so hopefully i will get to go to a firestation.. who knows, some of u will see me at any hospitals carrying a patient there. 2 days work, 2 days OFF, 2 nights work doesn't sound so bad. now i got 1 more month to go till i pass out :)

sooner or later, i will post a picture of myself in uniform. then u all can call me mat rip! hahaha!

until then! rock on!!!

Saturday, August 09, 2008

i was supposed to blog after the first week of my ns life. but i was lazy and tired. now, im much more fitter and energetic after 5 weeks.. chey! hahah!

anyway, it wasn't difficult to adapt to regimental life.. now that i am heading into the 6th week, i can't help but feeling that i will miss my recruit life.

the food is great! the beds are comfortable. the view from my window is nice. actually, u can only see the thick forest when u look out from the window and choa chu kang cemetery is only just beside the camp compound. creepy.

i had my guard duty done on friday on the 2nd week. and some of the checkpoints are situated at points where u could see the cemetery. fortunately for me, i did not see anything scary or funny. but after 3 weeks, many of my friends have seen the famous 'kakak' or pontianak at the huge forest. and one of them is actually my bunkmate who slept next to me.

as for me, while i was making my bed one morning, i spotted a very long hair under my pillow. as all of you know, every recruits are almost bald. so who's hair was it???

so how do i look?

i have 2 more weeks to go till i pass out which will be on the 22nd august. after that, i will be doing my medic training for 5 or 6 weeks. the best part is that i can go home everyday! and grow longer hair too. hahah!

time for me to iron my uniform and polish my boots :)

and happy national day to everyone!
