The Institute of Mental Health is not as bad as you think. im currently having my attachments there and i would say that it is not boring but it is not that great either. when i first stepped into the place, i was expecting something like patients pissing or shitting every corner of the ward or walking around naked. hahah! but being in a B2 class ward, we do have the chance to see the REAL side of a mental disorder. you'd probably be worried how you will be like when you are old and all alone because this can happened to anyone and certainly it can happen to YOU!

to tell you the truth, i don't really think that mental illness or disorders can be COMPLETELY cured but maybe to 65%-95% level. why i say this because when they have that certain disorder, they had forgot how to or cannot, for example, bath, eat, watch tv, write certain words and do some other familiar things or talk properly. so when they recovered, they still have to learn these 'new' things although their symptoms have long gone away or they are told by the doctor something like - 'okay, you have recovered' which i dont think they will say. i mean, the case manager told me that one of my patients are in the stage of better recovery so i figured that he just reached the stage so still needs time to fully recovered right?? right. haha.

last fri, one of my patient approached me while i was watching a channel 8 drama in the ward. he was showing me numbers on his fingers but i couldnt figure out what the numbers interpret. so he showed me his hands which is like holding pen and a palm underneath it which took me quite a while to figure that he wanted a pen and a paper. so i gave him that he started writing down the numbers. the numbers were - 5 4 3 2 - and it turns out that he wants to tell me a 4d number lah okkk... LOL! so anyone wants big money, here is the number from our friendly inmate in woodbridge hospital :)

then suddenly he pointed to my friend joyce who was also watching the chinese drama and i figured that he was talking about a girl back in his past. then he showed me a pointed finger ( i was wondering wtf) then he proceeds to show me a hole made by his thumb and index finger. then he poked the hole. he was talking about sex laaaa.... hahah! but the funny part was he showed me the face impression of having sex. if i have the camera i would have taken a picture of the face! funny sia!! then he laughed to himself.. like HE HE HE. hahaha!

okok... now i dont know whether some ppl notice this but my guy colleague is kinda restless and always touch things in sutiations where you should not touch things. this guy touches and 'play' everything that he could find. okay this is what happened...

me and ying xian were listening to the doctor's consultation round. so naturally u will keep quiet and only asked questions when there is a need to or when the patients have left. so this guy TJJ went inside the room to listen to the consultation too. BUT he went straight to this x-ray thingy where u switch on the light so that u could see the x-ray films. then he starts fidgeting with the switch. wth... then i told him to come near me and listen to the doctors. then he came to the door (where i was) and starts playing with the DOOR KNOB! eh alamak... this person's hand cannot keep still or what! all i know that his hands need to touch something that can be turned, twisted, pulled and pushed.

oh one more thing abt him. after the shift ends right, you will notice that he would be the first person to dissappear. that i know since the first attachment but i did wonder how come he could be gone from that builing that fast? coz he RAN from the lift all the way to the bus stop!!! yeah i really saw him running! i always say that he ran home so that he could eat the porridge that his mother cooked for him on that day. but i still dont know the real reason.

the one with his 2nd neoprints

after many months, cass persuaded me to take neoprints. yes it's been a long time since we last took them. we were supposed to do it 2 weeks ago after we had our jalan-jalan and dinner at some haji lane. if u guys don't know where haji lane is, it is at bugis near a big mosque which can be seen from the raffles hospital area. that is if u guys or girls want to look for some vintage stuffs over there. hehhe.

anyway, i said we were supposed to do but it didnt happened coz the neoprint shop had closed.

so a few days later we went to bugis again to take it and finally we did. this time i dressed abit better unlike last time where i wore an LSCT camp tshirt for the neoprint. it wasn't that horrible but it's kind of appropiate. hahah whatever lah.

the one with his updates

okay.. so let me update a few things...

firstly, after i graduate from np and ns, i will be working at TTSH. yup! since i am like so very familiar with that place, its definitely a very good choice to work there. and with over 90% of my schmates who said that they enjoyed working there, i know i made a right choice.

secondly, i entered the new year with a resolution to become a soccer player playing for a club someday. okay im not planning to join an S-league club but realistically, i woud love to play for Singapore Recreation Club or Singapore Cricket Club. since i have played for SRC youth team, i hope that will give me an advantage. but i will tell u one very fantastic thing though: playing at the PADANG is really damn fanstastic. hahah!

this was the jersey i had worn for all the games i played for SRC. the number is very significant :)

i also start the new year with the hope of passing all modules in year 2 coz i know its been tough and its going to get tougher in year 3. wow! soon to be a Year 3 nursing student. and i had never thought of being a nurse when i was younger. anyway, i just did my retest on my Psychology and Sociology module and i know i will pass the retest. now it's time to get ready for the final examination.

thirdly, i am going for the india trip. it will be 2 weeks of community and volunteer work. will explain soon when i have the details. but most importantly, i have my one month of attachment first before my one month of holiday (the india trip is included in this holiday). still, i get to suffer first before enjoying my holiday. buti doubt i suffer in IMH :)

finally, amidst of all my time constraints and schoolwork, i still have gf to listen to my craps. or more likely i listen to her craps. hahahaha! well we both can be craps sometimes. i realised she can act as an irritating person sometimes. i dont know why but it will really make u pissed. so friends of Cass out there, be aware of this :D hahahah!

so attachment started and things went slow at first. like really really slow coz my lecturer caught me yawning 100 times in front of the Sister of the ward. but time went faster after the 11AM - 12AM break. my brother said that KKH attachment is the most boring attachment ever. not that im taking his word for it, it's understandable why we would be caught yawning in the middle of the shift. still, it is just the first day and i got 8 more days to evaluate this whole thing.

anyway, cass is away on a trip for a week to malaysia. she's going to genting and i hope she's having a great time playing the rides or the casino or whatever she can find there. okay i may get a little mushy now but i started to miss her after her last mobile message (she didnt bring her phone to malaysia). so to all of you out there.... appreciate the time spent with your loved one :) who knows u are being missed hehhe!

i might be cursed sooner or later coz i am going to put a picture. this is not, i repeat, is NOT a funny pic but something for you to look, gaze and admire and also maybe wonder why this person did it in such a way.

some of you may wonder why my blog speaks less words nowadays. well, it is not because i don't have something to talk about. i can't possibly talk about soccer coz i've talked about that for many many times.

maybe i should tell u about this movie Step Up that i have watched last thursday. this movie will make u dance out of the theatre after it finishes. if u guys had watched She's The Man, u would remember who is the actor.

overall, i give this movie a 3 out of 5 because the storyline is abit off-key. i don't know how to explain but there is not much aura. yeah it'll sure make u dance in your seats but not enough for the whole day. hahaha okay if u think that i sound like im trying to be a movie critic, i will say THANKS! lol.

dinner at NYDC. the food is not bad. but the E=MC2 chocolate drink is damn terrible LAH! haha!

after weeks or months of absence, i am now able to blog again. Reason because i got a new laptop already. the old one is so old until i cant use it anymore. mum thought i made up a story that the laptop is spoilt so that i can get a new one. like no can!

anyway, i put up that pic first coz that pic signifies an event that would not ( or never ) be forgotten in my life. it was supposed to be a day where we could go to BUGIS and have our Break Fast ( it was during Ramadan) with my secondary school friends. we met up at my house and plan to go to Bugis from there. but Fadhil said he's at his friend's house so we will have to pick him up there. by then it was already 6.30pm. I mean, it doesnt take 25 minutes to get to bugis. plus we will have to look for a place to eat which will probably take another 25 minutes. all i know was we had to get there as fast as possible but my bro told us just to have a drink first at my house and then go off to bugis.

Then we went off to get fadhil which turns out that he was at Bukit Gombak or Bukit Batok. he was in a condo so we went inside the area to wait for him. then he came down and told us to go up to his friend's place as he said "there's a lot of great chickies, man!". dots. he told us we could eat for awhile before we go off. at first, i contemplated coz we were already late. but then i was abit hungry so i just followed suit. we walked up the stairs, went through a maze and then i saw MAHES. i was thinking what the hell is he doing here and then i thought maybe he's having a bbq with his indian friends or whatever. and then...

in reference to Cass's blog, i would like to say that i really didnt know that the ringtone had changed to the really Old Sch Ring Ring Ring tone. cass was beside me when the initial ringtone was some sort of a techno tone (im not a techno fan). and when that RING RING tone came up, it was natural instinct not to pick up the phone coz in the 1st place i didnt know it was mine! get the logic? hahaha!

anyway, we went to Chinatown to get the BELT that Cass had always wanted. okok.. so it wasn't that hard to find the place! $2.20 for a belt is very very cheap!

and baby u're gonna look great in that polka-dot vest. i so can imagine u wearing it for ur Tuesday's presentation :)

Cass and I took neoprints for the first time together! actually we planned this like months ago but we didnt know why it didnt took place. LOL. and also this is the first time i took a neoprint with a GIRLFRIEND. n also this is the first time Cass took a neoprint with a boy (and also a boyfriend). actually the last time i took a neoprint was with my mum and my auntie at Johor, Malaysia. yes Cass i took it in MALAYSIA :P

hahaha! there's a Rabbit on her shoulder coz that's her chinese zodiac sign. mine supposed to be a tiger but there's only a cat and all of us know that the cat is a close relative to the tiger. i also do NOT know what is the meaning of the japanese characters. hahah but the other words written there is very very true :)

being in a B1 class has its own advantages.

firstly, most of the ward's staff are very very friendly and approachable. and i am kind of convinced that being a guy has its very big advantage when working in a female-oriented environment. somehow i feel they just need a guy or two to spice things up abit.

secondly, it's air-conditioned.

but the story is not abt the ward. but the interesting people that's inside.

there is this old man who was admitted on sunday so i saw him on the next day.. i forgot what illness he had but he looked sluggish and all. anyway, he wanted to bath so i donned my apron and gloves and brought him to the toilet. this toilet has a foldable chair where the patient can sit down and bath and so i put him there. while he was bathing, he asked me to get his toothbrush. i gave him and he happily brush his teeth.

i actually squatted infront of him coz my legs were abit tired. then suddenly he took out his teeth (which is the dentures of course!) and start brushing it in a different angle.. so while he was brushing it, he kinda brushed it so hard that the residue fly to my face la! walau! then he didnt say sorry at all! i actually stared at him just to wait for him to apologise! hahhaha! then i quickly washed my face with a handsoap. n i couldnt help thininking whether the residue hit my hair and get stucked to it. eeEEEEee!

we finished after 45 minutes of bathing plus denture-washing plus handwashing.

lately, i've been thinking alot.

i've been thinking why am i in nursing.. like can i see myself working in the ward passing the reports? talk to demanding relatives? do my routine work? give the medication without error?

it's been a drag. really.

the exams were pretty hard and i can't help thinking that if i were to fail those papers, then would i be motivated to do further? i know most of u might say "it's all in the mind" or "if u put your heart and mind to it, then u'll be able to achieve it". my passion decreases which is so demoralising.

there is no doubt that i feel like quitting. of course i would feel that. and any normal human being will have that same kind of feeling once or twice in life. or maybe more till u become depressed. 'sian' maybe the word to describe the whole situation.

i wanted to go out yesterday. but my mum told me not to go out and demanded that i stayed at home. i told her i still wanna go out coz i've been working for a week and needed the break. she was still persistent about it and said no. she just said no.

haiz. i was given a no reason for not being able to go out.

i told my mum that im really not a Bad or Bad Habitual person. like im not a gangster and go around beating people. like im not a clubber who goes clubbing every night around drinking till the early morning. like im not a player going around having sex with teenagers under the age of 12. heh.

fadhil told me maybe because i told her that i wanted to go out at the last minute. i told him yeah im kinda like the last minute guy. and that i never intended for what had happened to happen.

yesterday i went to celebrate Cass's birthday at Swensen's. my friends and i tried to surprise her buttttttttt the birthday girl always seem to know that something is going on. i ate my chicken and she ate her fish and chips. laughing abt her past... or maybe their past.. haha!

then came the Cookies and Cream Cake. i never actually tasted one before but it was so damn good! anyway, before we ate the cake, the swensen's staff took out their birthday hat and sang the birthday song for her. hahaha... dont worry MISS CASS! the manager is my friend! lol.

this entry was supposed to be written a week ago, bt due to some cock-up my blogger or comp, it didnt happened.

anw, a promise is a promise. and i promised to bring Cass to the zoo and i did. hehhe! miow! woof! roar! mbek! moo! ssss! ahhhhhhhhh! ( this is when Cass shouted when a butterfly chased her around!)

so the day started when both of us woke up at 8.45am. we met at AMK mrt at 11 and took 138 to the zoo! when we arrived, we went straight to the CHICKENS! at kfc. LOL!

so we entered to the haven of animals and the story begins wehn we saw the monkey high above at the trees...
